Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library

Introducing Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library
By: Chris Grabenstein

Kyle Keeley loves to play board games, especially Mr. Lemoncello's games. One day when Kyle gets on the bus with his friend Akimi she is holding an essay in her hand, Kyle didn't make an essay... He didn't know! You can't blame him! But the real problem is that, it is due today... Kyle scribbles on a scrap of paper and there, he has his essay. Kyle didn't put much effort into the essay because he didn't know what he was getting out of it. The prize was getting to go to the new public library. 12, twelve year old students will be picked to go. Guess what, Kyle gets to go! And all he wrote was "There could be Balloons". But this was no ordinary field trip to your everyday public library. It was a game. Well yeah, at the very beginning they just played a couple small games. But they didn't know what was coming next. All twelve students were trapped inside the library and it was a competition to see who could get out first. Read, Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library to find your way out!

I recommend this book to readers that like comedy and a some twists and turns and the very end! I hope you enjoy this book once you've finished reading it!

After spending a long summer at their mom Cecile's house, they can't wait to return to her. Vonetta and Fern have been standing their ground and trying to do things on their own. Delphine's got it the worst, her mom left her when she was little, and she has to carry the weight of her sisters on her shoulders. Also her dad has a new girlfriend. Miss Marva Hendrix. None of the girls like her. Uncle Darnell has come back from the war but he's not the same he's different, like a part of him is missing. Besides her sisters, Delphine's got plenty of other things to worry about—like starting sixth grade, being the tallest girl in her class, and dreading the upcoming school dance. The one person she confides in is her mother, Cecile. Through letters, Delphine pours her heart out and receives some constant advice: to be eleven while she can.

I recommend fifth or sixth graders read this book.  I'm a sixth grader so I can relate to some of the things she has to deal with as a sixth grader.

Brotherhood

Brother Hood By: A.B Westrick

When a 14 year old white boy meets a 15 year old "colored" girl named Rachel, and befriends her, great dangers haunt Shad.  Shad agrees to join the Brotherhood, better known as the Ku Klux Klan which he thinks is "an organization of white men that protect white widows," Shad has no idea what he's getting into and what this group is really capable of. Shad works with his Grandaddy at Weaver's Fine Tailoring, he needs to make a delivery to the Perkinson's home. When he reaches the front step and knocks on the door, Rachel appears and a couple minutes later Shad has a deal with Miss. Elizabeth to teach him reading in exchange for a dress that he needs to make for Miss. Abigail. He is taught reading by Rachel and a white man that helps black kids in their education which was in a "shed full of colored students." The Grand Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan orders Shad's brother Jeremiah to torch the shed in the backyard of the Perkinson's home where the black students are being taught. Jeremiah is caught red-handed and goes to Libby Prison. Will Shad and his Grandaddy get Jeremiah out of Libby? And will the Klan always haunt Shad? Read Brotherhood By: A.B Westrick to hear more about Shad and the crazy mess he has created.

I recommend this book to readers that love action, mystery, and a good novel that you just can't put down!  The thing with the Klu Klux Klan I learned was what Shad thought they really were isn't what they were.  They actually were a group that wanted to drive out all black people from Virginia or at least make sure they wouldn't group together, learn, or take up jobs and  the Klu Klux Klan would scare and even murder to make sure those things wouldn't happen.  I had a lot of emotions while I read this book!  I talked to my mom and Mrs. Bronn about it as I read and when I finished.

Will In Scarlet by:Matthew Cody

                      Will In Scarlet
                              by:Matthew Cody
Will In Scarlet is a meaningful drama about a young boy named Will who goes on a mysterious adventure with a gang of outlaws.  The outlaws were people who were ran dry (poor) by prince John, a greedy, selfish prince who wants the throne, But John's older brother, King Richard, stands in his way. John may just get the chance when King Richard is held captive in another country. Gaby Lost and Found

Introducing Gaby Lost and Found By: Angela Cervantes

I am doing the Twain 21 book challenge at Cedar Ridge
Intermediate School! This was the first book I read in the
challenge! In this book Gaby's mother is taken from Gaby and her
father on an ordinary work day. It wasn't even her shift! She
was filling in for some friend that needed to stay home.
Gaby's mother was taken to her original home in Honduras.
Gaby goes to St. Ann's school for girls, her class went on
a trip to the Furry Friends Animal Shelter. Gaby is interested
in the animals that stay there and she wants to volunteer.
Gaby makes profiles for the animals there that are up
for adoption. She meets a cat named Feather and Feather's
original owners come to take her back from the animal shelter.
Gaby thinks they are mean and takes Feather home with her.
When Gaby's father figures out that Gaby took Feather he told
her they barely had enough money to care for themselves or the cat, but that didn't stop Gaby, not one bit at all! Read
Gaby Lost and Found to figure out what happens next!

I recommend this book to readers that love some comedy and some suspense!

The Hypnotists

             By Gordan Korman
 Is it a gift?....Or a curse?!
Weird things have been happening to Jax Opus, that kid with the color changing eyes. At first it was no big deal, suddenly seeing yourself from about thirty feet away, like you have a separate pair of eyes, is no big deal. Right? This has been going on for months, so it has to be something that just goes away in time. Or is it a warning? No one knew what caused it. The doctors would take one look at him; no, his EYES; and suddenly lose their mind. But not before Jax saw himself. That image of himself, like he was the eyes of the person looking at him. Then there was the letter. "Exceptional Skills" is how they described his "talents". But what danger could be around that corner? The fate of the world is in Jax's hands. So while Jax figure's out who the villain is; Elias Mako, the master of hypnotising, or maybe Axel Braintree, the old man that calls himself a hypnotist; an evil plan is being created to take over the world. With the help of his best friend, Tommy Cicerelli, anything is possible. And the truth will be nothing like you could ever imagine.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a mind-bending adventure and wants some crazy excitement to go with it.
